String Break began in 2006 in response to the need of our dear friend, musician Kirk Rundstrom. Having no health insurance, he required substantial help with medical expenses after being diagnosed with esophageal cancer. The first String Break was on a rainy and dreary day, but despite the weather, we were dedicated to our friend’s cause. With help from family, friends, and fans, we raised over $10,000 for Kirk.
Following Kirk’s death on February 22, 2007, String Break continued. The young family that was left behind continued to struggle to pay for medical expenses. And, despite another rainy day, our benefit once again raised close to $10,000.
This event is always scheduled for the first Saturday in May. Once again, with help from family and friends, we hope to make it as successful as those in the past. The proceeds from this benefit will be divided between the following:
